ACGClub.info Armstrong County PA genealogy discussions
The original Armstrong County Genealogy Club, ACGC, began in 1995 as a part of the Mildred Lankerd-Thomas Genealogical Library which is now a department of the Armstrong County Historical Museum and Genealogical Society (ACHM&GS).
In it’s second life ACGC started up in early 2011 as a closed Facebook group, a place to share genealogical interests, requests, and inquiries online.
It has now expanded into a dedicated Forum using phpBB software. One of the major motivations was to have good search capability. You are invited to use the forum to post your family history interests and share the fun of family history detective work. Registration is required to participate fully. Most forum posts are only available to other members, as is the case with the Facebook group.
ACGClub.info is not a commercial site. There is no fee for joining and participating. We do not do genealogy requests for a fee, nor do we recommend researchers. If you need outside help with this, an important resource is the Mildred Lankerd-Thomas Genealogical Library, a part of the ACHM&GS, or the Kittanning Public Library; both are 501(c)3 non-profit organizations.
For those of you who are local (or plan to visit Kittanning), the Genealogy Committee of ACHM&GS holds meetings the first Sunday of each month except in the winter. These meetings are free and open to the public — for anyone interested in genealogy or who wants to hear the invited speakers.
Please note that this site is not meant to replace the many excellent established genealogy web sites.
