About A2State.com
State Street started as a small shopping area serving the immediate needs of University of Michigan students. As the town of Ann Arbor grew around it, it was soon offering much more, first to nearby residences and then to an increasingly varied population. When the U-M campus opened in 1841, there were only seven students. They shopped with the rest of the town in the commercial area around the court house at Main and Huron.
