Kurt Bolden is founder and president of the Cicero, Indiana-based Bolden’s Manufacturing, Inc. Backed by more than 25 years of hands-on cleaning and restoration experience, Kurt, a successful entrepreneur, inventor, and trainer, has earned a respected reputation for his groundbreaking work and contributions to the industry.
Kurt started Bolden’s Cleaning & Restoration, in Noblesville, IN, from the back of his truck in 1984 and grew his business at an unprecedented rate and to a level only rarely reached as an independent operation. Bolden’s Manufacturing, Inc. was founded in 1999.
Kurt’s inventiveness and passion for doing the best, has given the industry the Hydro-X and Vac-Pac, two patented extraction tools that has redefined the approach to water damage work. His vision brought about the creation of the Hydro Lab in 2000. This state-of-the-art training and research center was one of the first of its kind in the industry. In 2006, a new, larger and more advanced Hydro Lab was built to encompass 70,000-square-feet of training facility and house a “year round” EXPO complete with the some of the newest tools and technology of the trade. Interactive product displays as well as a free standing, 100-year-old farmhouse that allows the participants a “real world” hands on drying experience is an integral component of the Bolden’s Hydro Lab training experience. Additional courses, are the advanced Ultra-High Tech, High-Reward Drying courses designed to take participants above the industry standard in training and education and the revolutionary Xtreme Remote Wet Tech, an integrated, web-based remote, moisture monitoring system.
Two other divisions of Kurt’s company include Rent-X and Xtreme Team. Rent-X is a 24-hour, nation wide, drying equipment rental service. Xtreme Team is a national group of cooperating water damager contractors, who are trained to a level of expertise well beyond basic industry certifications.
Today, Kurt is a leader in the industry and his company is one of the largest suppliers of rental drying equipment in the United States. His IICRC certifications include advanced structure drying, carpet cleaning, upholstery & fabric cleaning, journeyman cleaning technician, journeyman restoration (fire), water damage, odor control, and fire and smoke restoration. He is also one of only 20 world-wide certified ASD (Applied Structure Drying) instructors with the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC). Kurt is also an active member of RIA (Restoration Industry Association); in 2007 Kurt was asked and did participate in donnybrooks held by RIA. These debates were focused on desiccant, heat and LGR methods of drying and which is most effective in what environments.
