4CDMusic.com - Our Life is Music

The 4CDMusic.com music blog is the platform to discuss and present info about new music cd releases, cd releases that are good and we forgot about, and an introduction to new indie artists we find along the way that may or may not have a cd released yet. Sometimes we just roll with the press releases issued by the labels, but usually we put in our 2 cents worth about a particular release. And when we stumble upon a cd release that seems exceptional we give it the star treatment.

Background

As a frustrated musician/songwriter working day to day to find new and interesting music, I started 4CDMusic.com in an attempt to keep music in my life. Originally started as a bass player playing Rock, R&B, Blues, Jazz, Hawaiian, T40, Country, Metal, original. Picked up acoustic guitar, and keys with college music training. Eventually took to the road for a year and realized that if you’re not in the top 50 groups touring you’re in a grimy band house shacking up with your band, or in a small van sleeping on the seats in 2 hour shifts, which ain’t so bad for about a month (it gets very old after a year). Anyway to keep the music close to my life I decided to form 4CDMusic.com to support new music and seek out independent artists who have great talent.

4CDMusic.com has undergone many changes over the years, I've tried to keep the focus on indie and lesser known, but outstanding, talent. As the site has grown, so have I in html, programming, and all the icky stuff it takes to keep things going. I get bored easily, and I continually change things and shoot myself in the foot with the search engines. In 2005 I attempted to take 4CDMusic.com into being a full music store, which was an utter disaster. Instead of focusing on the things I do best (finding great music) I became a merchant, counting ones and zeros, and lost the thrill of what the site was about. So, over the last year I've been taking the direction back to it's roots. Because I'm still integrating, the site is like a stew, one part html, cgi, nuke, wordpress and a sprinkle of ajax ;), and of course, I'll be changing things again soon. - Mike
