- In June of 1987, Russ became a MHIC (Maryland Home Improvement Commission) licensed contractor and started R.L. Jones, Interiors. He produced his own floor plans & elevation drawings. Over the next seven years as a general contractor he completed projects including: several complete home renovations in Federal Hill & Belvedere areas of Baltimore City; mall store build outs in Marley Station, White Marsh & Owings Mills Malls & many kitchen/bath replacements throughout northern Maryland and southern Pennsylvania. In 1994 J.S. Heartwood, Inc. was formed and the residential & commercial building projects continued.
