The new international airport in Bay County Florida is projected to be a tremendous stimulant to growth in the Florida Panhandle. Hotels.com ranks Panama City Beach as the fourth most popular vacation rental and it's poised to become more popular with the addition of Pier Park, over 1 million square feet of shopping, dining and entertainment to be located on 120 acres of prime gulfview property on the west end of Panama City Beach.
The Florida Panhandle draws more than 7 million visitors annually from all over the world and is second only to Orlando's Disney World in terms of vacationers driving into the state of Florida. The annual growth rate of the surrounding area is projected to be 4 times the national average between 2005 and 2010 and the average household income is expected to increase by 13%.
