A starter solenoid (or starter relay) is part of a car that transmits an electrical current to the starter motor, which in turn sets off the engine. In many vehicles as the solenoid engages the pinion of the starter motor with the crown. The starter solenoid is above the starter. The terminal would connect the left threaded to the battery by a heavy cable. At the right end of the coil, a link within the housing engage the gear seen in the box on the right side of the engine.
