OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.178 requires that anyone that operates a forklift must be certified and authorized by the company before they can operate a forklift. Failure to certify a forklift driver can result in very expensive fines to individuals and companies. These fines can be as little as $7000.00 for having no license, to hundreds of thousands of dollars if an unlicensed operator is involved in an accident.
