101 holiday ideas personally selected by two of the UK's leading travel writers David Wickers and Mark Hodson. 101 Holidays is a travel inspiration website set up in 2009 by two of Britain’s leading travel writers, David Wickers and Mark Hodson. It uses a unique style of visual search, also allowing users to search holiday ideas by category, price and destination.
The holidays featured are all individually researched and chosen by Hodson and Wickers. For each holiday, a tour operator or travel company is recommended.
101 Holidays was named by The Times as one of the year’s 10 Hot Websites of 2009. It has shortlisted for two prestigious industry awards, and picked up a Travel Pioneers award from Travolution magazine for “outstanding innovation”. In 2011 it was named by The Independent among the top 50 best travel websites.
It has also been featured in The Times, The Sun, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Mirror, MSN Travel, La Repubblica in Italy and the Independent.
The site also features family holiday ideas, holidays for teenagers and relaxing holidays, as well as its own Top 10 holiday destinations.
A second site, 101 Short Breaks, was launched in October 2009, and a third, 101 Honeymoons, in May 2010. A fourth site, 101 Family Holidays, launched in May 2011. Director Catherine Leech says there are plans to expand rapidly with a series of related websites.
The site has also introduced holiday ideas by month, in response to many queries from users who know when they want to go away, but have no idea where. For example, you can find holidays in February, or where to go in March or holidays in April.
