WikifyingCmaps

Post by fridemar » Wed Apr 29, 2009 2:51 pm There are a lot of suggestions that may come from the Wiki culture.

I only sketch one, because I think that it could better be explained and expanded on a shared CMap for collaboration (which I am going to suggest on a special post in this forum):

AutoGenerateNodesAndEdges

What about a text input section on arbitrary concept nodes N in the following form:

verb1 N1 verb2 N2 .. verbm Nm

that would create graphical nodes: N1..Nm in combination with graphical edges, labeled by the verbs: verb1..verbm. The nodes could be in CamelCase and the verbs in (more or less) free form. If a node Ni is not yet in the Cmaps server database, it becomes an empty node with a "?", prompting for input. If a node Ni is in the server database, N gets appended a link to Ni and Ni gets linked backwards with N. This allows for convenient navigation and authoring the WikiWay.

The nice thing is the synergy effect that comes from AccidentalLinking by the contributions of peer-mappers (be it in the nearer project context or in the wider information soup mashup).

For inviting collaboration, I bilink this suggestion with http://www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/mb.pl?AccidentalLinking and http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?WikiPrinciples . Besides that and since this forum is not (re-)editable, I deposit a copy on http://aboutus.org/AccidentalLinking.

I hope that we soon get the critical mass of collaborators in the wider communities that the social software CMaps really deserves - for the benefit of all involved participants and communities.
