Synopsis

MarkDilley: A question we get all of the time because we messure it in our free home page analysis and our paid product- hey you don't have a canonical URL - and we have lots of of information about what it is and how to fix it. I just want to give you the simple run down.

Basically, your website is you putting up your business online. And that is what you see. But in the background, through weird and mysterious ways - you now actually have 2 websites.

You need to pick the version of your website you want - ether http://www.website.com or plain old http://website.com - it doesn't matter - just pick one.

Then you get your web person to make a 301 Redirect and you don't have to worry about this again.
