The Organisation
The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums is the "umbrella" organisation for the world zoo and aquarium community. Its members include leading zoos and aquariums, and regional and national Associations of Zoos and Aquariums, as well as some affiliate organisations, such as zoo veterinarians or zoo educators, from all around the world.
The Annual Conferences of WAZA last four full days and include plenary, technical and administrative sessions, as well as working group and committee meetings. The programme is complemented by a visit to the local zoo or aquarium and a series of social events. Conferences in recent years took place at:
WAZA publishes Proceedings of the Annual Conferences and other meetings, an annual directory, the WAZA News, the WAZA Magazine, fact sheets and strategic or policy documents.
