The Raleigh Division recently upgraded its cable system with fiber-optic technology providing the foundation for Digital Cable, high-definition television (HDTV), Road Runner, a high-speed online service, and Video On Demand (VOD).
Time Warner Cable launched its new Digital Cable service in the fall of 1999. Digital Cable offers a broadband digital platform that delivers a clearer, sharper picture on the television screen along with CD-quality sound. In addition, customers can choose from a wide array of entertainment and information services, including high-definition television programming from Home Box Office, Showtime, WRAL-HD, WRAZ-HD and WTVD-HD. Digital Cable customers can access over 250 channels on Time Warner Cable's system including more than 175 digital channels of news, sports, educational and family programming. Customers may also choose from a full multiplex offering of premium services including HBO, Cinemax, Disney, The Movie Channel, Starz! and Showtime; 40 commercial-free audio music channels; and 38 pay-per-view channels with near-video-on-demand capabilities.
