The IFPA Certification Commission is offering the IFPA Personal Fitness Trainer Exam as well as 28 other Fitness Professional Certifications Exams. The IFPA is the only Fitness Certification Organization authorized to offer the prestigious IACET (International Association for Continuing Education and Training) CEU. The IFPA has completed an extensive application been reviewed by an IACET site visitor and has successfully demonstrated the ability to adhere to all IACET criteria and guidelines. IACET is recognized as offering the highest quality continuing education and training programs. Over 400 medical, health professional, municipal, state and federal organizations and various professional corporate entities accept only IACET CEUs. The IFPA Certifications are the only way for Medical (doctors, nurses, therapists, etc) health (message, therapists, registered dietician, ect) and other professionals in both government and private sector to gain simultaneously both a Fitness Professional (Personal Trainer and 28 other Certifications) Certification and earn CEUs in other medical, health and professional fields.
The primary reason the IFPA was founded, was to answer a cry for help. Before the IFPA began in July of 1994, before there was an IFPA certification many, many gym owners complained that... "virtually every certified fitness instructor that walked into their gym looking for a job could not properly demonstrate a squat or properly queue a group fitness class or even properly adjust a piece of exercise equipment." The gym owners were looking for a certification that actually tested potential fitness professionals "on what they needed to know in order to conduct safe and effective training programs." To quote one very frustrated Gym Owner: "I don't need instructors with a certification that is simply a worthless academic exercise." He demanded something "different than a certification put together by academicians from the Ivory Towers of Academia that had no practical experience."
IFPA programs answered this cry by recruiting a group of experienced exercise scientists who actually WORK in the fitness industry as athletes, coaches, trainers, chiropractors, physical therapists and sports medicine doctors.
