How do I improve my signature
Improving Your Signature
If you enter "~~~~" the system will insert your login as a wiki signature. By doing this, people can easily go to your personal page anytime they see your signature. Below are instructions to improve this even more by adding a link to go directly to your "talk" page. --User:Ray King | talk 15:36, 20 August 2006 (PDT)
- If you enter "~~~" you will not have the date stamp attached.
Improving wiki signature with the addition of a talk link
- Click on the "Preferences" link in the right hand AboutUs panel of any page, under my talk.
- Copy this into the "Your nickname (for signatures)" field (replacing YourName and LoginName with your names):
Yourname | talk
- Make sure there is a check mark in the "Raw signatures (without automatic link)" checkbox.
- Click the Save Preferences button

Template
I created a template based on the information on this page at Template:ImprovedSig. What do you think?
Vartan | talk 15:33, 5 October 2007 (PDT)
I think the information on the page is incorrect
Shouldn't it be
- Assarbad | talk, or
- Oliver | talk, or
- User:Assarbad | talk
resulting in:
Using only Username should not be enough, since this will create a link to a page named Username, while the above changed version would create a link to User:Username which is a different namespace! --Oliver | talk 01:45, 1 September 2006 (PDT)
- You're right! Would you take a stab at improving the page? --User:Ray King | talk 09:37, 1 September 2006 (PDT)

For some ideas about signing messages with a Reply link, instead of a User talk link (a Reply link will automatically start a reply at the end of the User talk page), look here and here. -- Joe Cohen | Reply 10:20, 11 December 2007 (PST)
