- Dorothy was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up with one sister and three brothers. Her grandparents emigrated to the United States from Italy in the twenties. Dorothy is a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she received her M.F.A. in painting. In the following years she worked as a decorative painter and muralist, first in New Orleans and then in Manhattan. In 1992 Dorothy founded Colorfields, a decorative painting and design studio. In 1999 Dorothy moved to Berlin she now lives and works in Berlin and New York. Since she studied art, Dorothy felt always passionate about painting and working with colour. A rich knowledge of paint chemistry as well as effects of colour, form and texture on large surfaces, are evident in her paintings.
