Sworn police officers of the CMHA Police Department are certified by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Commission and have full police arrest powers. They enforce all city, state, and federal laws, as well as agency policies and procedures. The CMHA Police Department provides quality law enforcement service to residents, employees, and visitors of CMHA properties located throughout Cuyahoga County.

The Department provides policing services to CMHA residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round and has an authorized staff of approximately 160.

The Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department Headquarters is a 23,000 square foot, two-story facility. This facility is ideally located in the heart of the east side of Cleveland known as the Central Area, allowing for the fastest response time to the majority of public housing residents. The location helps to promote community ownership and improve public housing residents’ access to their specialized police department. It also encourages the residents and organizations in the Authority’s diverse community to better communicate, share information, and increase their overall community involvement in safety.
