Description
Excerpted from the website:
- The 1st Regiment, United States Infantry (recreated) is a Federal Civil War reenacting unit with 70 members from the Dallas/Fort Worth and Central Texas areas. Our core impression is that of regular infantry. The unit we portray was stationed on the Texas frontier prior to and after the Civil War. We strive to accurately portray a Federal Civil War soldier in garrison, static camp, and on campaign. While we obviously prefer to portray Regulars we will also portray volunteer units as the scenario dictates. Individual and unit authenticity and historical accuracy are crucial to living history and reenacting. We strive to make as few concessions to the present era as safety and common sense dictate. Modern anachronisms are discouraged. The precision of old army Regular units in drill and on the field is well noted. As a Regular unit we continue this tradition, emphasizing the art of drill at the company, battalion, and brigade level.
