Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and the direction of Elder W.T. Bracy and Elder Ben M. Bogard of Little Rock, Central Baptist Church was organized March 29, 1931.

On May 18, 1931, Central Baptist Church called Bro. J.W. Kesner, Sr. as Pastor. Brother Kesner served as ministering pastor for 26 years and three months, resigning August 18, 1957.

The first functions as an organized church began meeting in a building at that time known as the Labor Temple located on North 9th Street between North A and North B Streets. In a short time, the church purchased a large tent which was erected on a lot in the 800 block of North 5th Street.
