- In 1959, Jim Weston, founder of Weston Pontiac Buick GMC was living with his young family in North Portland, working for the Oregonian as a paper route coordinator, in charge of several boys who ran small routes. In September of that year, having been told by an acquaintance that he would make a good car salesman, Jim applied for a sales position at Vic Bowman Pontiac GMC in Oregon City. He sold cars there for 8 years before being promoted to the position of Sales Manager and, shortly thereafter, to the position of General Manager.
