Port Mansfield
Description
Once known only to roaming Indian tribes, then by fishermen who found the waters off this section of the Texas coast to be especially productive, Port Mansfield is nestled peacefully on the shores of the Laguna Madre… only nine miles from the beauty and solitude of South Padre Island National Seashore and Bird Sanctuary.
Port Mansfield enjoys the same latitude as Palm Beach, Florida. The Rio Grande Valley has a semi-tropical climate and much of it has lush semi-tropical vegetation. Port Mansfield benefits from a sea breeze that keeps it warmer in winter and cooler during the summer.
IF DRIVING: Take US 77 to Raymondville or Highway 281 to Highway 186 and turn east, then just drive to the coast. IF FLYING: An unmanned 3,200' lighted runway with fuel is available.
