Jean Zier is a long-time Spalding teacher and curriculum director at an award winning rural public school in Montana. She is the originator of the concept of phonogram illustrations with their "easy-to-learn" sound sequence captions which she teaches to the 1st and 2nd grades. She also has credited workshops for teachers on the "Spalding Method"
