Description
WorldofTourism.net was launched in September 2000 to support tourism and travel education, research and the dissemination of information for industry professionals, educators, researchers and students. Although independently owned and managed by Glenn A J Bowdin, the site was initially designed to support students on the BA(Hons) International Tourism Management at Leeds Metropolitan University but has since expanded for users elsewhere.
WorldofTourism.net is one of series of sites dedicated to supporting professionism, education and research within service industries. Other sites in the series are WorldofEvents.net.WorldofHospitality.net, WorldofRetailing.net and WorldofServices.net.
WorldofEvents.net has received attention from industrialists and educators alike, and has received recognition for its contribution to developing events professionalism. Notably, WorldofEvents.net has received the "ExpoWorld.net Gold Seal of Approval" and in February 2000 Glenn A J Bowdin, site developer, received The Max Cuff Award 2000 from the Incentive Travel & Meetings Association in recognition of WorldofEvents.net being developed for the benefit of the industry.
