The Watershed Wellness Center began as Spartan Enterprises, Inc. in 1993 in Dewitt, Michigan. Spartan Enterprises pioneered the first vended water machines in supermarkets throughout mid-Michigan, selling Michigan Mineral - Premium Natural Water. By 1994 Michigan Mineral had become the largest selling bottled water in Lansing and expansion of the brand continued.
The Watershed was established in 1995 in Lansing, Michigan. Originally mid-Michigan's first bottled water store, it became the largest distributor of water coolers and 5-gallon bottled water and sold bottled water in stores such as Target.
In 1996 The Watershed became the first company to sell Water Ionizers and Ionized Water by the gallon in Michigan, and one of the first in the country to do so. The same year, the Watershed began importing and marketing Chlorella and Spirulina. The original mission statement was adopted in 1997: "Providing products and servcies that help keep us out of the doctor's office."
By 1999 The Watershed had become the largest importer of Water Ionizers and Chlorella in North America, and the exclusive North American representative for the Taiwan Chlorella Manufacturing Company, the world's largest chlorella producer. By 2000 The Watershed was the exclusive importer of Jupiter Water Ionizers (Dong Yang Science) from Korea. The same year, Bob McCauley, owner and founder of The Watershed, published Confessions of a Body Builder through Spartan Enterprises. The book was the first to explain Ionized Water in great detail.
In 2002 The Watershed began the Acheiving Great Health Radio Program, the first radio program in North America that promoted the raw food diet and other topics of natural health. In 2003 The Watershed began importing Far Infrared Saunas and established itself as one of the largest marketers of Far Infrared Saunas in North America. It also became the largest distributor of Taiwan Chlorella in North America.
The Watershed officially became The Watershed Wellness Center in 2004. In 2005, the Watershed Wellness Center became the exclusive importer or Yi Shan water ionizers from Taiwan. A new mission statement was adopted: "Your body is capable of healing itself of any disease." Achieving Great Health in 90 Days or Less was published by Watershed owner Bob McCauley through Spartan Enterprises. The book was written to promote Ionized Water, Chlorella and Spirulina and the raw food diet.
In 2006 The Miraculous Properties of Ionized Water was published, the first and only book written exclusively on Ionized Water. In 2007, The Watershed Wellness Center adopted the slogan "Healthy People Helping People" (credit: Patti McDowell).
During 2008, a second edition of The Miraculous Properties of Ionized Water was published, along with the first edition of Honoring the Temple of God: A Christian Health Perspective.
