Wanderlust.co.uk is THE site for people with a passion for travel

About Wanderlust.co.uk

Wanderlust is the leading travel magazine for independent-minded and adventurous travellers looking for world class information and advice about where to go, what to visit and how to get there. Wanderlust magazine was started back in 1993, planned out in South America on the back of a sick bag...

Wanderlust, the UK’s leading magazine for people with a passion for travel, was launched in 1993 by Paul Morrison and Lyn Hughes, who schemed the project on a flight to Ecuador.

Frustrated by the absence of a publication combining the right mix of wildlife, activities and cultural insight – not to mention inspirational writing and photography – the couple decided to produce a magazine packed with travel advice and fresh ideas.

The magazine has grown a lot since those humble beginning, with subscribers in 112 countries and over 100,000 readers enjoying eight issues a year. We’ve long since outgrown the spare bedroom, and our dedicated team works from an office in central Windsor. We have also expanded into editorial and media services for other travel companies.

Sadly, Paul Morrison – the magazine's co-founder and publisher – died in December 2004. But, for all the changes, the underlying principles that Paul believed in so passionately remain the same, and continue to underpin the magazine, this website, and all the Wanderlust portfolio.

“There simply isn’t a better magazine for the serious traveller.” – Bill Bryson

Want to share your travel experiences and photos with like minded individuals? We run one of the least pompous and agressive online travel communities around - myWanderlust

We run the largest travel photo competition in the UK with over 9,000 entries in 2011.

And we have Wanderlust.co.uk where we post the travel news stories that matter to you, the traveller, as well as great advice and travel inspiration pieces.

Had a great guide on one of your trips? In conjunction with the Telegraph we run the World Guide Awards which features the Paul Morrison bursary in memory of Wanderlust's co-founder.

Since launching the Wanderlust World Guide Awards in 2006, we’ve had an incredible response from our readers, all eager to tell us about a safari guide, sherpa or expedition leader who has gone beyond the call of duty to help travellers experience the true essence of a country.
