VALINOR GRAZING CO principals, Ian and Di McCauley, have been breeding tropical bos taurus beef cattle for over 30 years. The home property is located in Australia, near Biloela in central Queensland, 130 kilometres south of Rockhampton, which is on the Tropic of Capricorn.
Our aim is to produce superior tropical bos taurus genetics. These are attractive cattle in their own right. They are also valuable to commercial producers with indicus and euro/indicus breeders, who wish to improve their productivity through two and three way cross breeding programs. Accurate fertility, growth, and carcass performance records provide an invaluable guide in the selection of seedstock genetics.
BELMONT (Australia). This composite breed was developed in Australia from the Africander (an African Sanger breed), Hereford and Shorthorn. They are bos taurus yet exhibit a high degree of heat tolerance and parasite resistance. Commercial performance in a wide variety of environments, as well as in official trials, has demonstrated that not only do they exhibit competitive growth rates on grass and feedlots, they have a high yielding carcass and marble well.
