[USSAS] is a volunteer non-profit charitable organization that gives scholarship aid to poor Black students in South Africa attending universities and technikons. USSAS participates in the South African struggle against HIV-AIDS by requiring that each of its scholarship holders participate actively in the AIDS Awareness and Prevention campaign on his or her home campus.
