Well, it all started (I think) in 1999. You see Channel 4 showed this programme about the international versions of Big Brother and then announced that a UK version would follow in the following year. I'd heard about the Big Brother format before and was fairly mesmerised by the documentary. Somehow I knew that Big Brother in the UK was sure to be a big success. I promptly forgot about it all, until Channel 4 started trailing the beginning of the first series. At the same time I was looking for a new internet project to do, and I thought, "Hey, I could make something about Big Brother".
When I saw the documentary I felt that I wanted to talk about was what I'd seen, and that this interest was sure to stretch to when the series started proper. In my mind, the show raised so many questions about the nature of television in the UK as well as being just fun entertainment that I felt I had to create a forum that allowed people to do just that - TalkBigBrother.com was born!
I started the site in the first week of Big Brother 1 and quickly the site became very popular, with hundreds of people registering every week. Then the BBC linked to the site for the first time and my page impressions went through the roof. They've been kind enough to link to me every so often in their news stories on BBC Online, and this has led to a steady trickle of users ever since. When writing this on May 2nd 2003 the site has 3,500 registered members.
