Employee opinion surveys allow you to find out what the issues are from the surveyed population’s point of view. And with the skilful use of demographic groupings, the views and perceptions of various horizontal and vertical groupings can be established. Resulting change initiatives often fail however, because the majority of employees are working on an agenda that is different to that of the organisation. Their perception of what is important is different. Whilst they ‘implement’ the ideas passed down from above, what gets implemented is not quite what the organisation intended.
