- In 1988, SpiderSmart began as Reading and Writing Center to help students in Northern Virginia improve their reading and writing skills. SpiderSmart's unique blend of reading, writing, and individual instruction, together with SAT and math classes, made the center a popular choice for parents who wanted their children to succeed at schools. In 1999, SpiderSmart decided to make the successful Reading and Writing Program available to students in other geographic regions as well by converting it to an internet-based program. Interest in the SpiderSmart's unique and effective approach increased as students from all over the U.S. and other countries discovered the program online.
