- We have several bird feeders hung from the eaves outside our big window. It's fun to watch the birds come and eat, as the different species all seem to have different eating habits. Once in a while, we'd get a brown Eastern fox squirrel (Sciurus niger) or Eastern grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) trying to get on the feeders, but careful placement seemed to thwart their efforts and eventually they went away.
