In December 2005, Sepracor submitted a New Drug Application (NDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for arformoterol tartrate inhalation solution, a long-acting beta-agonist formulation for long-term maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The NDA for arformoterol tartrate has been filed and is under formal review by the FDA. Sepracor has several additional compounds in early stages of development that are directed principally toward central nervous system disorders.
