Prior to 1995, Profile Plus, Inc. was known as Behavioral Science Resources, Inc. (BSR), a research organization founded in 1974 and incorporated in 1978 to effect organizational change, cultivate personal development, and teach leadership effectiveness to managers. In the late 1960's and early 1970's, BSR founders, William Dyer, Weldon Moffitt, and Philip Daniels sought improved understanding of how organizational dynamics impacted individual management styles and vice versa. This was often done through so called Training groups or "T-Groups", developed during the 1950's by Kurt Lewin, a social psychologist who explored group interaction using group dynamics. At this time, a common belief among the emerging fields of Organizational Behavior and Social Psychology was that if experts could teach individual managers to improve their management style, all would be well. This notion had its limitations as subsequent research showed that organizations invariably influence managers, pressing them to regress and resume their old way of managing. Simply put, over time the impact of training evaporated when managers returned to their natural environment. From its inception, BSR has researched new methods and innovative technologies to prevent such regression.
