How to tackle it

Here every fortnight successful examples of research essays, college essays and a thesis will be analyzed to benefit all of us. Lets starts with this week's analysis of an A grade Harvard research essay!
  • Always keep tip#1 in mind!Read the assignment carefully and if not assigned a topic then come up with your own gem when you think of a topic!
  • You already know a bit now about how to develop a thesis. Lets see an example of a good introduction and a thesis statement in the following research essay.
  • Topic:"Treatment of Deceit in Shakespeare's Hamlet": This is a good topic because it sounds innovative, attractive and something which any student of Literature or Shakespeare would want to read further.Apart from this it is stating the nature of your paper and the area you will write about. That makes a good topic!
  • Working thesis:For this research essay,a working thesis is "How deceit leads to moral degradation of the protagonist as well as the minor characters in Shakespeare's Hamlet".Here the author has narrowed down the focus even further, informing the reader that she will be looking at the impact on the minor characters alongwith the protagonist and not on any other aspects....Read More...
