- VANDALISM - If you've visited the park recently you may have noticed a disturbing trend. In the past few months, park buildings, signs, and even monuments have been scarred with spray paint. This comes at a time when the City of Scranton has made great strides in restoring and improving the park. These crimes are an outrage. They threaten the parks progress and dishonor the memory of those memorialized. Thankfully, we've identified this virus early, and there is a wealth of information available for those of us who'd like to reverse the trend. Turn outrage into action. The irony of these crimes is that perpetrators literally sign their work in the act of committing the crime. The implication is that the people do this with impunity. If you recognize these "tags" and know who did the damage in these photos , email the Scranton Police. The police do patrol the park on a regular basis. Although evening police bicycle patrols through the effected and vulnerable areas would reduce the problem, the problem cannot be solved by police work alone.
