- Piotr NYKIEL was born in 1971 in Krakow, Poland. He graduated from the Department of Turkish Studies at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow in 1996 (the subject of his MA thesis was "The Naval Operations in the Dardanelles 1914-1915"). In January 2007 he has got his PhD in history (the subject of his PhD thesis was "The war in the Aegean - August, 1914 - March, 1915").
