Title

NAIS - National Association of Independent Schools

Description

The National Association of Independent Schools acts as the national voice of independent pre-collegiate education and as the center for collective action on behalf of its membership. It serves and strengthens its member schools and associations by articulating and promoting high standards of educational quality and ethical behavior by working to preserve their independence to serve the democratic society from which that independence derives and by advocating broad access for students in affirming the principles of equity and justice.

NAIS and Independent Education

The National Association of Independent Schools, governed by a board of trustees and staffed by approximately 40 individuals, is a membership organization and the national voice of independent education. It represents nearly 1,200 U.S. independent schools, including day, boarding, and day/boarding schools; elementary and secondary schools; boys', girls', and coeducational schools. NAIS offers a variety of products and services to member schools and associations.

Members of NAIS are non-profit independent schools in the United States that have been in operation at least 5 years, belong to a state or regional independent school association, are accredited by a NAIS-recognized independent school accrediting agent, and demonstrate financially sound operations and nondiscriminatory hiring and admissions practices. NAIS members agree in spirit with the NAIS Principles of Good Practice. Find out more about membership benefits, requirements, and dues; and download an application.
