The pages on this web site were created with CoffeeCup HTML Editor and LiquidFX Professional. HTML, JavaScript and CSS codes were entered manually, and repeat code was copy-pasted where possible, decreasing repetitive work. Although commercial editors like FrontPage, Dreamweaver and Golive can simplify design tasks a great deal, they generate large amounts of redundant code and increase page size considerably. CoffeeCup, LiquidFX and other simple HTML editors, on the other hand, require more coding experience, but create smaller code-tight pages, and put the web designer in control. My opinion of course!
A single CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) file is linked to all the pages on this web site. By editing the styles in this file alone, it is possible to change and control the appearance of these pages with a single editing session. Without this scheme, the 330+ pages would have to be edited one by one for the smallest change, a tedious task at best. At the same time, many pages contain their own embedded Style Sheets so they can override the CSS file and be edited separately. Such is the power of CSS!
The pictures on this web site were taken with an Epson PhotoPC 600 digital camera at 1024 x 768 resolution. They were then edited with Corel PhotoPaint and saved in JPG and GIF formats with slight compression, to get a good balance between quality and fast loading. The results were very good, saving me the trouble of shooting the pictures with an analogue camera, developing them, and then scanning them to transfer them to my computer!
