Our administrative team of neonatal and pediatric RNs coordinates comprehensive private duty nursing care or intermittent visits for a diverse group of patients: premature infants, children with post-traumatic injury, congenital anomalies and degenerative illnesses. The management team also assumes a major responsibility in the interdisciplinary communication among involved parties--families, physicians, case managers and referral sources--by acting as the central source for information on each patient and by regularly reporting on the patient's progress to the appropriate individuals.
Children need "tender loving care." They need a familiar touch, familiar faces, the comfort and stability of home and a committed team of caregivers. All children need these "security blankets," including -- and especially -- the growing number of children who survive premature birth or severe illness or injury and are technology dependent.
