Title

Welcome to the McLean Symphony

Description

The McLean Symphony is an all-volunteer orchestra with a membership of over 70 players. Over the years it has developed a tradition of featuring a wide range of soloists, some established, others who were given their first opportunity to perform with an orchestra. Among the area's orchestras, we pioneered the idea of showcasing the talents of youth composers and rising stars from our community, and of turning the spotlight on the many solo caliber

musicians within our membership. We are also respected for our tradition of performing works by American composers, with a special emphasis on those still living; many in the Greater Washington area.

During the course of each season the Symphony presents at least seven programs; four with the full orchestra, and three smaller ensembles, known as our Twilight Concerts, held in private homes. The orchestra has played numerous times at The Greenbrier Resort and similar locations, toured various counties throughout the state, and for the International Children's Festival at Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts. The McLean Symphony, under special sponsorship, has recently performed in the Concert Hall of the John F.
