Description
McVan Scotties was founded by Vandra L. Huber in 1982. Upon their marriage in 1986, Michael Krolewski joined the McVan team. Vandra is responsible for the breeding program and does most of the showing the Scottish terriers – her schedule permitting. She also judges dog shows, being approved for 22 of the 26 terrier breeds. Michael serves as back-up groomer, stay at home babysitter, moral booster. He also assists with whelping the puppies and helps with the breeding of dogs. . Michael plans to move to the next stage of his doggie career and pursue a judging career. Michael's bearded collie Striker serves as baby sitter for all new litters of puppies
Loving, breeding and showing Scotties is a full-time passion but not the full time occupation of Vandra and Michael. Vandra is an industrial psychologist. She is a Full Professor of Human Resources Management at the University of Washington Business School. Her expertise is in human resources decision making, specifically compensation and staffing and negotiations. She coordinates two special programs designed to teach undergraduates (Business Advantage) and graduate students ( Administration and Management 510) who lack any knowledge of business, the fundamentals of business. Michael is a software engineer for Rosetta Informatics, a subsidiary company of the mega-pharmaceutical company Merck. Vandra and Michael are members of The Scottish Terrier Club of America (STCA) where Vandra served as a board member from 1994-96.
Both Vandra and Michael have served on the Tally Committee and have worked to raise more than $10,000 for the STCA Health Trust Fund. Michael currently serves as a member of the STCA’s Health Trust Board of Directors. Michael has served as President, Vice President and Treasurer of the Washington State Scottish Terrier Club. Vandra is the founder of Fala-la Days, a fun day held each May for Scottie enthusiasts. Vandra and Michael are founding members of the Seattle Scottish Terrier Society which is devoted to creating positive experiences for Scottish terriers and their owners.
