Breathing Space was established in 2000 by Fran Loots, then incorporated into Loots Limited - a company limited by guarantee in 2003. Loots Limited was chosen as the company name as too many other 'Breathing Spaces' had appeared since first trading with this name - though the trading name continued to be used! Not too many Loots' about though. Breathing Space Outdoors was coined in 2005 to reflect the focus on the outdoors.
How we work
Breathing Space Outdoors believes that by taking time out, particularly in the natural environment, it is possible to re-energise and focus, thus returning to our lives able to see the wood and the trees! This can be through training using the outdoors as a medium to explore various issues or through outdoor experiences.
Breathing Space Outdoors believes that the natural environment can and should be accessible to everyone. We are committed to inclusive practice. Every attempt will be made to ensure accomodation is accessible. Work is in progress in conjunction with Interventure and Equal Adventure to open out more accessible outdoor options. In addition, training and outdoor experiences can be tailored to meet needs of groups with disabilities.
