Leo Hepner obtained a B.Sc [Eng] and Ph.D in chemical engineering at Imperial College, University of London. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and a Fellow of the Institute of Food Technology. Following an industrial career in the polymers and food ingredients industry he published the world's first technical journal related to biotechnology and biochemical engineering, 'Process Biochemistry'.

In 1970 Leo Hepner launched his management consultancy organisation specialising in the business, marketing and technological aspects of fermentation and biotechnology related to the following industries:

Leo Hepner is the author of numerous scientific and technical papers and articles. He is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences. He travels widely and has visited most companies in the world who are engaged in fermentation and biotechnology.
