General information

The KVI is a leading Dutch institute in the fields of fundamental and applied subatomic and atomic physics. Central in the institute is the superconducting cyclotron AGOR. The KVI is situated on the campus of the University of Groningen and is financed by the university and the Dutch Foundation for Fundamental Research of Matter (FOM).

The KVI actively stimulates and participates in interdisciplinary fields of research, both within and outside the KVI, as well as undertakes application-oriented research together with industries, businesses and the public sector.

KVI is a user facility for the international scientific community. Being part of a European collaboration of nuclear-physics institutes, KVI receives EU money for trans-national access of users of the AGOR-accelerator facility.
