Welcome to KnoxSitters.com. I guess it's true that necessity is the mother of invention. Most of the web sites I come up with are in one way or another linked to something missing in my life. In this case, a baby sitter. You see, if my wife and I wanted to go out, we would always take our kids to a drop in day care and go out confident that our children are being well taken care of. Then it happened. One dark evening, my wife and I were going to see a band at a local club. One of my friends from work is the lead singer in the band and we were really looking forward to seeing him and his group perform. However, upon arrival at the location of the drop in daycare, it become apparent that we were not going anywhere... for a long time. Our drop in daycare was now, almost magically, transformed into a sporting goods store. I was devastated. Our entire life had been disrupted. We didn't have any friends who were in a position of being able to baby sit for us, our family either lived too far away or simply weren't willing (queue violin). I grieved the loss of this cherished facility like one would grieve a family member who had fallen in battle. For weeks I mourned and then one day, I overheard some coworkers talking about how hard it was to find a good babysitter and few wishing they had somewhere affordable to leave their pets while they went away on vacation and then it dawned on me. I searched the web for possible solutions and all I could find were subscription sites where you had to pay to either put your ad in or to view the ads, all the while getting no guarantees that there would even be an ad in your area. So I decided it was time for a free site, dedicated to families in the desire to help those in need of some away time, find reliable and safe assistance in watching their kids, their pets, or even their elder relatives. It did not take long once I found the name "KnoxSitters.com" available for purchase. I do hope to acquire some sponsorship so the site can stay open, but I will not charge to use this site to find a sitter or to advertise one. This is our humble beginnings and I hope we will be here for a long time as a staple part of the Knox County and surrounding communities.
