Description
Glass has so many fascinating qualities that make it such a wonderful medium to work in. I try to explore some of these qualities such as refraction, reflection and magnification in my work. My aim is to produce pieces that are ever changing as the position of the viewer moves, or the light conditions change.
I use simple lines and colours in 3 dimensions to explore the space within. My pieces need to be seen from all sides and in different light conditions to appreciate the illusions glass can produce.
Space has always held a fascination for me, as do all things scientific. Relying heavily on mathematics in the formation of my designs, I use scale and permutation to build up a grid of glass. This 3 dimensional grid then becomes the basis on which I use colour to emphasise notions of space, for example nebula clusters, or explore scale and permutation.
