- I started painting at a very early age. My mother's father, Arthur Golightly, was an artist and let me paint along with him during the summers I spent with him and my grandmother in the Texas Hill Country. He signed his paintings, "Golightly", so I did also. Today, I still sign my paintings, "J. Golightly" to honor him and to thank him for giving me one of the greatest joys of my life.
