Description

About Iran Heritage

The Iran Heritage Foundation is a non-political UK registered charity founded in 1995, with the mission to increase awareness about, promote and preserve the history, languages and cultures of Iran. The objectives of the Foundation are pursued by means of organising and supporting research, publication of books, establishment of fellowships at major academic institutions and diverse activities of cultural or scholarly merit in a variety of related fields, on a worldwide basis. The Foundation interprets its remit generously and initiates a wide range of programmes intended to provide a forum to facilitate the study of Iran's culture both among students and the wider academic community. This is supplemented by a series of multi-disciplinary events that present all aspects of Persian culture (ancient and modern) to the public at large. By forging ties with most of the major museums and universities in the world that have an interest in Persian culture and history, the Foundation has succeeded in bringing the highest level of expertise to its programmes, and when it comes to projects related to Persian culture, the Foundation is now considered the partner of choice by many of these institutions.

Though only active since 1995, the Foundation has grown rapidly to establish itself on an international level by supporting programmes in Armenia, Austria, Canada, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the United States, the United Kingdom and Iran. See the relevant pages on this site for a list of programmes supported by the Foundation.

The policies of the Foundation are determined by its Board of Directors, and executed by its officers and executives (Chief Executive, Treasurer and Secretary). In addition to the above referenced officers and executives, the Foundation's affairs are supported by three committees. The Academic Committee selects eligible academic and research projects and sets out the Foundation's conditions for providing financial support to them. The Future Generation Committee is responsible for organising programmes and events for the younger generation, both for pre-university students as well as young professional up to the age of 40. The Events Committee organises a number of social, cultural and academic events throughout the year.
