Description
Northwest District 250 of the IAM, formed in 1988, consists of members belonging to seven Local Lodges, several of which have been representing workers since the beginning of the 1900's. We represent over 4,000 working men and women in the Industrial and high-tech sector, including heavy duty equipment manufacture and servicing, automotive service and repair, class 8 truck manufacture, aerospace manufacturing, shipbuilding, manufactured homes, and many other industries.
Our members are skilled tradespersons, parts and service persons, and associated skilled and semi-skilled workers. They work all across province, from Victoria to Tumbler Ridge and from Whitehorse to Cranbrook. The Machinists Union in British Columbia presently represents members in over 125 Companies such as Finning Ltd., Western Star Trucks, Avcorp Industries, Wolfe Chevrolet Oldsmobile, Moduline Homes, Deere-Hitachi Specialty Products, and Vancouver Shipyards.
