Description
In 1888, nineteen machinists at the East Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia Railroad assembled in a locomotive pit to decide what to do about a wage cut. They voted to form a union, which later became the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Capital Air Lodge 1759 organized on March 7, 1946 as PenCenAir, chartered in Washington, D.C. Our name changed to Capital Air Lodge 1759 in March, 1951. The charter location changed to Alexandria, Virginia on July 7, 1977. Local 1759 offices are presently located in Herndon, Virginia.
Capital Air Lodge 1759 is a non-profit organization affiliated with IAM Airline Districts 141, 142, and 143 under the jurisdiction of the IAM's Transportation Department.
